HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Posted in: Uncategorized

Happy first birthday Emma!  Happy first birthday James!

I know every Mama says this, but I cannot believe that it has been a year since you were born.  I loved you more than I knew I could the very second I saw you, then each day I love you more and more.  Not that we didn’t have any rough nights or times when I have been frustrated, but our first year together has been overwhelmingly good.  Great, really.  Grandpa says you guys are classic “trickster babies” because you trick people into thinking all babies are as good as you guys are.

Emma Catherine, you are officially my first born baby – my surprise baby girl.  You seem to be shy when new people meet you, but that’s because you just want to make sure your affections are deserved.  When you learn who a person is, you love them with all you have.  Your smile is brilliant and kind of creeps onto your face until you are just shining.  You also like to be in charge – you don’t like it one single bit when something is taken away from you.  You even get ticked off sometimes when your bottle is done.  When we read books, you want to be the only one who can turn the pages.  You are so content most of the time.  You took a while to roll over or crawl, but I know it was just because you were cool with where you were.  Your real motivation for crawling was simply to chase after the animals.  You got your first two teeth right together and were so chill about it that Daddy and I didn’t even know you had them!  So far you have 3 teeth, all on the bottom.  You like most foods, except peas!  Sometimes you get weirded out when we try new foods and make the best scrunched up faces!  You love to snuggle, especially when you are tired.  When you don’t feel good, Mama is the only one you want to hold you, which I have to admit, makes me feel pretty special.  You love when people sing to you, and every once in a while you join in too.  You just started to wear barrettes or bows in your hair and you don’t seem to mind them and they are very cute.  Your hair is light brown like your Daddy’s.  Your eyes have gotten darker since you were born and are a mix of blue, hazel or gray.  You have eyelashes that go on forever.  You are beautiful, smart, one of a kind.  One thing that I know for sure is that I will love you forever.

James Daniel, my sweet baby boy.  You are the happiest baby I have ever met.  You will smile at anyone and that makes it absolutely impossible for them to be sad.  You have huge dimples and your whole face lights up when you smile.  Your eyes are the lightest shade of clear ice blue.  They literally shine.  Since you were just a tiny baby, you have been the one eager to move!  You rolled over and started to crawl way before I thought you would.  You want to be moving all the time, so the times when you snuggle in for a hug seem extra special and warm.  You pull up to stand on anything you can get your hands on, even the dogs.  They best part is that you are so proud of yourself when you do something new, you want to make sure everyone sees you.  You have been known to clap and say, “yaaay!” for yourself when you do something new.  You love alllllll foods, you haven’t met one you didn’t like.  But when you’re not hungry anymore, you are ready to get down and start playing again.  You prefer non-toy toys like a small hair brush, the old TV remote, and especially empty plastic pop bottles.  Your hair is finally starting to come in much more and we can tell it is going to be dark like your Mama’s.  You are excited to see Daddy and me every time we pick you up in the afternoon and when we come get you from bed in the mornings.  Sometimes when you get sad or don’t feel good, you cry and roll your tongue and sound like Chewbaca.  When you are unhappy we call you Jamesbaca and sing you the “what are you crying about?” song or the ABC’s and all is right with the world again.  You are so handsome, smart and one of a kind.  My love for you fills my heart up till it overflows.

James and Emma, I thank God everyday that he chose me to be your Mama.  I promise to do my best to make sure that you are happy and healthy for many many many more happy birthdays.  I love you with everything I am!

I was looking at this earlier today with Victoria & taught her to say “James” and “Emma” – then when we got down to the last picture of Emma, she exclaimed “Cutie pie!” Just thought you’d like to know my daughter thinks your daughter is a cutie pie! ;-) Kids just say the cutest darn things sometimes!!
